FREE Community Meningococcal Vaccination:
An outbreak of meningococcal disease primarily affecting young Aboriginal children living in central Australia, has escalated rapidly. To prevent cases of meningococcal Spinifex Health, offer a free vaccination to all community members both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal aged 2 months and over. It is highly recommended that all community members and staff are vaccinated. There are two type of vaccines Menveo® for persons under 12 months and NIMENRIX® for persons 12 months and over.
Babies and young children may experience irritability, have difficulty waking, bulging fontanelle, rapid or laboured breathing, refusal to walk/limping, a high-pitched cry or decreased oral intake.
If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms please seek medical help.

Headache or neck stiffness

Drowsiness or confusion

Joint pain

Rash of purple spots

Dislike of bright lights

Vomiting
