Spinifex Health Service delivers a range of programs which contribute to the comprehensive primary health care service provided in Tjuntjuntjara.
The health service actively engages local employees. Currently we employ one Aboriginal health practitioner, three Aboriginal health workers and two aged care workers.
There are three remote area nurse positions who each have a specialist area of focus:
-
child and maternal health
-
chronic disease management
-
continuous quality improvement and relief when other nurses are on leave
Our medical director spends a week or more each month working in Tjuntjuntjara, and at other times provide remote support to clinic staff. Support and health services are also received from Bega Garnbirringu, WACHS Population Health and Kalgoorlie Regional Hosital.
Spinifex Health Service is a member of the Kakarrara Wilurarra Health Alliance (KWHA) who conduct a monthly 2 day visit from Adelaide to assist Tjuntjuntjara to meet specialist and allied health service needs. Other visiting health services are delivered by fly in - fly out pratitioners.
The Royal Flying Doctor Service provides emergency air retrieval to Kalgoorlie Regional Hospital or Perth when required.
